Canada has got the same problem as India, in a way that we have issues with our current Prime Minister, but we cant do anything about it, coz the opposite party is straight shitty. My sincere prayers to your federal election.

That is some great journalism and fine comedy, in truly Canadian style. Anarchist, Atheist, Canuck here. Good or bad, the rules governing our parliamentary, electoral and partisan fundraising systems have created a Political environment that promotes saying all the right things but actually doing as little as possible.
The result is a 2.5 party system in which everyone squeezes for the "middle" with one slice of bread hoping [and frequently plotting} for the other slice of bread to get so soggy it ruins the whole sandwich and all you're left to eat is the piece of cake on top.
The real incentive to holding power in Canada is the ability to steer government dollars towards the Inner Circle through patronage and contracts. Done successfully, money is then kicked back to the party through donations and lucrative private sector career opportunities for party operatives. This goes on for one or two mandates [depending on how discreet they are] until the other party gets in and does it again.
Canada is a pretty amazing country to live in but truthfully we can do better.

People are completely missing the point of this piece. Hasan Minhaj clearly thinks the Alternatives to Trudeau are absolutely terrible. The whole point is to remind Trudeau of the positions he has taken in the past. You should always hold people in positions of power accountable, no matter how much you like them, or how likeable they are, as Trudeau is, to be honest. He looks like a good guy, but even he should be held accountable.

No government, party or country is perfect when it comes to difficult transitions like climate change or migration. 5 seconds to say the others are worse, and a whole program to put the best option down. This is how the Trumps of the world get elected, because we put our best option through such criticism that we lower them to conservative levels. We need to help them get better with options and strategies, not by shaming them publicly. If you do this for the 2020 election, Trump will win for sure

Hasan Minhaj goes after Quebec, but he'll give a free pass to his beloved Pakistan (yeah, his family says they're from India, but they're pro-Pakistani, because like them it's all Muslim). So what it looks like to me is that Hasan Minhaj is really more pro-Muslim than pro-everybody. Minhaj also goes after Saudi Arabis for its war on Yemen, but again he gives a free pass to Pakistan for its war on Afghanistan nextdoor – instead he makes a crack about the Afghan govt having a sex scandal, when the real headline is that its people are being massacred by its warmongering neighbor to the south.

Netflix should be proud to host Hasan Minhaj and the Patriot act TV show in general. There are alot of seroiusly dodgy humans on this planet whom show little or no compassion for the psyco acts they do & say.Hasan's style delivers a touch of vibrancy & quick wit to the show, whilst sucessfully maintaining the seriousness of the crimes against humanity that the show often covers.

So, in conclusion… Canada isn't perfect? Still light-years ahead of the United States in any of these mentioned issues. So, why the hatchet job on Canada? We have TRUMP as our president for fuck's sake.

There's a bizarre anti secularist mentality in liberals via religious expression. It's time to recognize ALL religions as inherently violent. I'm aware that racism hides behind secularism as it hides behind many things. So let's crack down on Christianity first for good measure and posterity. #freedomfromreligion

So many nations have these two sides. Even autocratic dictatorships like China are not one dimensional. For example; more oil in Canada, less weapons to the Saudis.
That's something people usually don't understand.
For example: climate change can only be stopped if there are simply less humans – the third world everyone is so keen on aiding? If they have only a little bit more industry and thereby wealth – well say good bye to the idea of stopping climate change.
What I want to say; life sadly doesn't always allow you to do everything right.
Because of China & the US for example we are on the verge of a new cold war – some might say we are already in one. And this doesn't allow us to make some otherwise absolutley necessary changes – because we fight on multiple fronts. Against poverty, against climate change, against nationalistic ultraprotectionistic populism or against autocratic dictatorships, and against being left behind. This is our reality and sometimes our best choice is to play two diffrent games and hope that we can win both.

Unfortunately your a little mis-informed.. Trudeau and the liberals have over 9 ethics violations and is now committing obstruction over an investigation into obstruction… Singh is not scandal free..

  • Adam Nowek

As a Canadian, I appreciate this episode a lot. People from around the world have this idea in their minds that Canada is this dreamland where everything is damn near perfect. It isn't and there are fundamental problems and hypocrises that we need to address.

  • Filipe Almeida

Hasan is being disingenuous here about the pipeline. More Canadian oil being exported by cleaner and more efficient means, means less oil being exported by dirtier and less efficient means.
To the same extent, energy from natural gas is preferable to coal, etc.

  • Nunovia Gottdamnedbizzness

😂 Trudeau is so unpopular with Canadians right now he actually got booed & heckled so badly during a Labour parade in Hamilton he left the parade early.

Canadians loathe Trudeau for his hypocrisy and his unethical entitled arrogant behaviour.

OH yeah, climate change is a fucking hoax, so you van shove your propaganda up your ass

I'm really amazed by the amount of quality content that you and your team gathers in your stipulated timeline. Plus the graphics and presentation, its really great. Just to have a have a first hand experience I'm starting to gather information on one topic in the field of politics as much as I can for a month and then move to a next topic.

Conservatives are not worse. We just don't lie about reality. Truedope will lie to your face and go after watered down versions of the goals Conservatives want, with the exception of taxes. The liberals LOVE LOVE LOVE to spend your money, and they will invent save-the-climate schemes to get it from you! If taxes save the environment, we'd all be breathing clean air in a stable climate right now, because we are already taxed to death!

  • Lisa Kourkafas

Like I have said before okay yeah make fun of Trudeau but have we forgotten the Conservative mess Harper and Mulroney. Please for the love of Canada don't vote for either Conservatives and Liberals the 2 parties that have rotated through power in Canada. Please vote for the Green Party or NDP. Think before you vote.

"People bring American Sentiments onto Canadian Politeness every now and then" uh …. Justin …Boobie …. buddy …. what happened to "Diversity is our Strength"? You are not being very Diverse there.

He is not the only choice! His leftist, globalist ways will change Canada beyond recognition. Great interview Hasan…too bad more of the MSM is too afraid to ask any of these questions. Oh right! They're in his back pocket, that's why. PPC 2019

Did not know that Canada is so backwards when it comes to the important issues. Same happens here in Germany. We also sell weapons to Saudi Arabia via backchannels even the public is against it and we still dig coal out of the ground every day. It currently looks as if we fail the paris goals as well and the only glimmer of hope are the fridays for future protests going strong in Germany.

I don't agree about what said about quebec we are tired to see people showing religious belief when we had try so hard to make them vanish religious as we know it it only for obtuse persone with mediavalic way of thinking

I bet the asteroid that slammed on earth which wiped out the dinosaurs could have been avoided if only the dinosaurs implemented some form of climate change program. Hahahahahahaha

Turdo needs to go. I hope the result of the RCMPs investigation into his pressuring of JWR lands him in jail. He's a criminal.

Great piece! Admittedly, I am not a fan of Justin Trudeau. While he is a nice person and intelligent one too, I found that were it not for his name recognition and his relation to his father, he would not be where he got to politically, at this point in time. To be fair, this is less on him and more on the Liberal Party, who at the time were looking for a saviour and in him recognized that they had found one. My principal issue with him, is his lack of political and leadership experience, which is the reason that he has gotten himself in the trouble that he has.

Ultimately, all successful politicians are pragmatic. The trick is how you not only get there, but also knowing how far you, can go, leading a majority of the population there, and accepting that while it may not be what you want, you are laying foundation to build on for the future. An example of this is President Obama’s ACA. Because of this, universal-single payer healthcare is not only being discussed, but may have enough support to become a reality, in the near future.

What the piece does not do enough is to point out the really problem in Canada is Canadians, who while they like to believe that they are nicer than Americans, are more American in their thinking and in practice in their day to day life. Especially, if a little pressure is put on them. Yes, they claim to want a clean environment, but fight against a carbon tax. They claim to dislike #Individual1, but in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec they have voted in milder and more well spoken versions of him.

As far as the pipeline is concerned, I am on Trudeau side on this one. The pipeline is not the problem, the problem is that it is a sensible solution for the reasons that he somewhat clumsily articulated and one , an attempt to staunch an independence/secessionists movement from erupting in Alberta, which is very much the Texas of Canada, though with fewer guns that he did not. To those that are against it, I say, if you are really against it, stop burning oil and gasoline, reduce your consumption of plastics, in short change your lifestyle and support governments, corporations and regulations that help to achieve this. Do so and the business case for building the pipeline or the use of it will go away.

There are two sides of Canada, because while loathe to admit it, Canadians are incredible hypocritical, and every Canadian leader must deal with it, some like Stephen Harper took advantage of it, and, now Andrew Scheer, who it may be argued is even more right wing than Harper is seeking to do the same. While others, like Justin Trudeau, while trying to do better are just bad at navigating it to get to a better place. In the meantime, he has done himself no favours, and has confirmed my initial sense of him, which given the state of Canadian politics is very sad, as there really is not much out there to draw encouragement from.

    Canadian here. Three things:

    1. Good to see people outside realizing Canada is a neoliberal country pursuing economic growth like every other comparator country and not some weird land of hippies living off the land.

    2. Whether Hasan realizes it or not, he just provided half an hour of free content to the party that wants to do bigger and bolder versions of all the things he's critiquing Trudeau for. The only people sharing this video on social media are the disgruntled uncles whose main complaint for the last four years has been that Trudeau's too effeminate and friendly with minority groups. So… there's that.

    3. Weird that Hasan never really mentioned the NDP or the Green Party in any substantive manner, two parties that have policy platforms geared towards the things that Hasan seems to value.

  • Bethany McMurray

I was gobsmacked when I saw the "Canadian Roughneck" on Patriot Act. I've seen him at my job booking a community room to talk about Alberta Jobs. He was a little more cleaned up but talked in the same mannerisms while talking to me at the front desk.

  • FanASStik

Really funny! Everyone loves Justin Trudeau except for Canadians. Hasan forgot to leave out how Justin Trudeau is actually an incompetent.

  • robert armstrong

To all Americans: I and millions of my fellow Canadians would trade Trudeau to you for ALMOST any one of your leaders. ….I said 'almost'. (Trudeau is a simpleton and a disaster for our country.)

  • TheCpHaddock

Wish you had talked about the "first past the post" policy which arguably is the mother of all the other political issues in Canada. Basically riding us from a viable third option in the federal elections.

  • Debbie Taylor

Trudeau is an asshat and needs to be voted out in Oct. You are so wrong on your climate change facts. Canada has less than 2% of the global CO2 admissions. Stop pushing wrong facts.

Hasan why do you call your dad by his first name? Just wondering cause my kids call me by my first name as well. Keep the good shows coming!!

  • Michelle Tracey

where's the mention of Elizabeth May? I hoped Hasanw would mention her when he showed the info graphic that she was voted #1 most ethical of major party leaders. The Green party needs as much publicity as it can get right now

  • TheTechnoPilot

You compare him to the dream politician for the left, but that is horribly wrong. The sad part is, many here in Canada find him way to middle ground and unwilling to do what is needed when it comes to climate change. Trudeau campaigned on being progressive, but sadly didn't follow through with standing up for the actions needed to combat the biggest single issue facing humanity in our history as a civilization.

  • Rulze1

Hasan seems concerned about climate change but I am sure he flies around the country all the time. Just as hypocrite as Trudeau… just on a different level.

  • xDEATH4SIGHTx

The misinformed Quebec bashing is nothing new here, French-Canadian have a peculiar history of religious oppression and centuries of English hatred which tends to happen when you get invaded and killed by an invading army. Xenophobia wasn't born out of thin air, it was centuries of self preservation, it's easy to over generalize and cast someone's else historical reality aside.

    Indian Request
Do a episode about kashmir but show the whole truth. How a muslim Majority in that region discriminated against minorities. How Kashmiri Muslim Leaders looted govt. Money given to them for betterment of Kashmir and how they are Radicalizing Muslims there. Also, show How Indian governments Discriminated against rest of the India Hindu Majority by giving a huge amount of benefits to the people of Kashmir for no fuckin reason (I guess Being a Jihadi Scum has its own benefits). Be it Scholarships, reservations and other hundreds of benefits. Also, Include How Kashmir's 370 and 35-A exploited the people of Ladakh (Buddhist Majority) and Jammu (Hindu Majority). Also, also, Also do research about The Pakistani Propaganda in kashmir. How they're promoting a proxy war over there. You can also make a video about all the terror outfits present in Pakistan being Funded by their Army and ISI (Accepted by Imran Khan Himself). You can also talk about Jihadi Muslims Protesting in London against India for No Fuckin reason and authorities of London not taking any action against them only Because the Mayor of the london is a Paki Muslim. Also, do your Research and show India is not a racist country at all. India is the most secular country ever. India is a secular country from a time when being secular wasn't even cool 'Leftist' thing. This would be a sick episode. Looking forward for it. I know you are a muslim yourself but I hope you're not a Radicalizaed one.

"Made a point of selecting a gender balanced cabinet" How is this good? You don't pick ministers because they're women, you pick them because they're the most qualified!

PS Look up Jordan Petersons rant on this, you'll agree
