SQL Server 2019 Revealed Book | Data Exposed

    >>Bob Ward wrote a new book called SQL Server Revealed and he’s here to tell us all about it today on Data Exposed. [MUSIC]>>Hi, and welcome to another episode of Data Exposed. I’m your host, Jeroen, and today we have a very special guest SQL royalty, Bob Ward.>>SQL royalty, I don’t know. I’m not sure if I heard that one before but yeah, thanks, Jeroen. Great to be here.>>Yeah. So rumor is you wrote another book. I know you had a book on SQL Server on Linux. I read it, I have it. It’s signed by you even, thank you for that.>>You’re welcome.>>So the rumor is on the street, there’s…

Rebuild and reorganize indexes with Index Manager for SQL Server

Index Manager by Devart lets you quickly and easily find out the status of indexes and discover which tables need maintenance. Index Manager is launched from within the SQL Server Management Studio. Just choose a database you want to analyze and invoke the tool from the shortcut menu. As you can see, the tool has automatically defined the database indexes that require defragmentation. Index Manager automatically chooses indexes to be rebuilt or reorganized depending on the preset thresholds. To view the index maintenance script in a new SQL document, click the Script Changes button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown list. Click Fix fragmentation to make dbForge Index…

SQL Server – Import REST API / Read JSON / XML File / Call SOAP (Pagination, OAuth, OData)

Hello and welcome to ZappySys ODBC PowerPack 101. Today you will learn how to load REST API data into SQL Server using ZappySys data gateway and ZappySys ODBC drivers. Before starting the presentation let me briefly tell what ZappySys data gateway is. It’s a tiny SQL Server which gets installed as Windows service as a part of ZappySys ODBC PowerPack. Basically you can view it as a bridge between your client application and a data source you want to access. In our case the client application is a SQL Server and the data source is a REST API service. Actually with ZappySys data gateway you can also load Soap API…

SQL Server 2019 | Query faster from any database. (Microsoft Ignite)

(logo sliding) (upbeat music) – Welcome to Microsoft Mechanics Live. (audience clapping) Hoo. Coming up, we take a closer look SQL Server 2019, now generally available. We’ll look at its expanded role as a data integration platform allowing you to bring in data from any source including on the Edge for analysis. In fact, we’ll show you how data location becomes irrelevant with a scenario that goes from the ground to the cloud, and introduce you to Azure SQL Database Edge. So, I’m please to be joined today by Buck Woody, an applied data scientist from the SQL engineering team. Welcome! Thanks for having me on the show. – It’s…

Artificial intelligence and machine learning with SQL Server 2019

(upbeat music) Hello and welcome. My name is Sanjay Soni. Here is a micro-learning, readiness video. Hi Sanjay, thanks for having me. I’m Anna Thomas. I’m an applied data scientist on the Azure data team, and today I hope to show you a little bit more about ML and AI and some of the things we’re bringing to 2019. Awesome, yeah I know that SQL Server has had some kind of machine learning capabilities in the past, but what’s new? Yeah, sure. Let’s actually take a step back and kind of walk through this evolution of what’s happened with SQL Server ML. Maybe about four years ago, we acquired a…

It Just Runs Faster: SQL Server 2019 TempDB Improvements | Data Exposed

[MUSIC]>>Hi. I’m Pam, and I’m a Program Manager with the SQL Server Engineering team in the storage engine area. Today in this video, I’d like to talk to you a little bit about some of the improvements that are coming in SQL Server 2019 for TempDB performance. So let’s start with a little bit of a background on TempDB. What is it? It’s essentially just a database like any of your other user databases. The difference with TempDB is it’s used for temporary storage. So that means it’s not durable. We recreate it every time the server is started, and we’re able to do things like minimally logged transactions, because…

(cheerful music) Hello and welcome, my name is Sanjay Soni. Here is a microlearning, readiness video Let me welcome Buck Woody to the studio. Hi, Buck. Hey, how you doing Sanjay? SANJAY: Great to have you with us. It’s good to be here, it’s good to be here. Awesome. So, what do you do at Microsoft? I am an applied data scientist. I work on the Azure Data Team, so we work with SQL Server and all the other data platforms as well. SANJAY: I see, I see. So I know there’s a lot of buzz going around for AI and big data, first of all, is big data real?…

    SQL Server 2019 Vision

    >>Growing volumes of data create deep pools of opportunity for those who can navigate it. SQL Server 2019 helps you stay ahead of the changing tide by making data integration, management, and intelligence easier and more intuitive than ever before. With SQL Server 2019, you can create a single virtual data layer, that’s accessible to nearly every application. PolyBase data virtualization handles the complexity of integrating all your data sources and formats, without requiring you to replicate or move it. You can streamline data management using SQL Server 2019 big data clusters deployed in Kubernetes. Every node of a big data cluster includes SQL Server’s relational engine, HDFS storage and…

New Feature Offerings in SQL Server 2019

    >>Hello everyone, I’m Rony Chatterjee, a senior program manager on Microsoft SQL Server team. Today, I’m going to show our SQL Server 2019 product offerings in Azure Data Studio. A cross platform multidatabase tool designed to empower data engineers and data scientists. SQL Server 2019 is deployed on Kubernetes providing the flexibility to run on premises or in the cloud. In this instance of Azure Data Studio, I’m connected to two SQL Server instances and to the Spark HDFS endpoint in the Kubernetes cluster. SQL Server 2019 provides a unified view over enterprise data. Whether it’s relational data stored in databases or big data stored in HTFS clusters. SQL Server…

SQL Server 2019 meets AI and Big Data | Ignite 18

(upbeat music) – Hello, and welcome back to Microsoft Mechanics Live! Coming up next, we’re gonna have a leap and we’re gonna have a look at the leap forward in SQL Server, its next leap, and we’re gonna show you big data capabilities that are now built into SQL with HDFS and Apache Spark, as well as our new approach for data virtualization that allows you to easily integrate data across multiple data sources without even needing to move it or perform ETL. So, very cool stuff. And to join me, I’ve got Travis Wright from the SQL Server team. Give a big, warm welcome. – Hey. (audience applauds) Thanks,…
