Web design & web development – What’s the difference? | CharliMarieTV

    – Today I want to talk to you about the difference between web design and web development. These are two separate roles in the website creation process. Some people do both of them together, but not everyone does, as they do involve a very different skill set for each, and there are many jobs available for both design and development separately as well as together. Essentially, if you want the short version, web design involves creating what the website should look like and how it should work, and web development involves building that design and bringing it to life as a functioning website. Let’s go into a little more detail…

A day with remote software engineer Lydia Hallie

So for those who don’t know me yet, I’m Lydia Hallie. You may know me as the Avocoder on Instagram or as that 19 year old girl from the Medium article in 2017. Well, I work remotely, I travel all over the world by going to different AirBnBs basically every month. I do this so that I can meet people from the industry in different countries and definitely go to different tech places. I want just to get more people involved in the tech world – the coding world – and show them how cool it is once you have the skill that you can basically build anything you want…

Artificial general intelligence: The domain of the patient, philosophical coder | Ben Goertzel

My cousin who lives in Hong Kong is a game programmer, and he loves what I’m doing but he just tells me when we discuss it, “I need immediate gratification.” And he codes something and he sees a game character do something cool, right? And if you need that, if you really need to see something cool happen every day AGI is not for you. In AGI you may work six months and nothing interesting happens. And then something really interesting happens. So I think if someone doesn’t have that kind of stubborn, pigheaded persistence I will tend to employ them doing, for example, data analysis, because that gives immediate…

    Async/await server pt.1 – accepting TCP connections

Hello! Async/await is stable now — hooray! So in this next couple of videos I want to demonstrate writing a small network service using async/await and tokio 0.2. I wanted to learn the new syntax for myself so I made an ident server just for fun. It’s quite simple – only about 150 lines of code. Now that it works, in these videos I want to build up that server in bite-size chunks and talk about how it fits together. It didn’t go completely smoothly so I’ll point out some gotchas along the way. You may not know what an ident server does, which is because they haven’t been used…

Now Hiring? (What Computing Companies Look For) – Computerphile

A lot of people watching this channel might want to have a career in computing and you work in industry So I thought kind of we could just maybe have a chat about what it’s like From your point of view what you’re looking for from people And what you know what people should be thinking about when the you know what a period is Thank you. That’s a great question. I mean I hire about ten people a year a lot of them go into What I would call a jason sees to computing so for example. I’ve got a team. That’s working on sensing in the life sciences…

    11. Transfer Learning for Domain-Specific Image Classification with Small Datasets (2019)

hello everybody my name is Chris and today we’re gonna talk about transfer learning I think transfer learning is really cool because it lets you take a small data set and actually create a really accurate model we’re gonna do this by leveraging very large networks that were trained for many hours or even days on much larger data sets than ours and actually transfer that knowledge into our own network made specifically for our classification problem so today we’re going to be working with the Freiburg Grocery data set which is a small data set about four thousand images of various grocery products and we want to train our…
