Install Godaddy SSL Certificate for Free – LetsEncrypt Cpanel installation

hello Internet people in this video I’ll
show you how to install SSL certificate using let’s encrypt free certificate
provider I also show you how to redirect the users from HTTP to the new HTTPS and
to install this I’ll be using online tool so you don’t need to know any
coding and I’ll be using cPanel in GoDaddy take it from here our new
Showtime took a bunch now let’s encrypt is completely free but you do need to
update it every 90 days so basically you have to do the same process every 90
days you can install let’s encrypt in few ways are we going to use an online
tool for simplicity especially if you’re not like this guy look at him
coding on the radio just go to 0 SSL calm and click on the online tools and
start the free SSL certificate and once it’s loaded you’ll see it’s asking for a
few things on this page just add your domains with and without the www and
check the check boxes here and hit the next and it will start generating it CSR
this might take a minute or so just wait it out once it’s done hit the download
button so you have a backup of this file and then you can just hit next again and
it will start generating the account key again this might take a minute or two
and once it’s done click on download as a backup and you can hit next
and in this step you’ll be verifying that you’re actually owning this domain
by placing these files on to your server it’s actually quite easy just download
the files and then you have to go to your cPanel in my case I’m using go you should have similar setup for other web hosting providers so in
your cPanel not a gate to file manager and go to your root and the important
thing here is to create a folder under your public HTML called dot well – known
so I’ll create it here and then inside of that folder create another folder
ASME – challenge once that’s created just go inside of it and then upload
those two files we just downloaded no sexy bill I don’t want to download
windows alright and now you should see a new folder the two files and you can
test that this works by clicking on the link here and it returns you the keys
that means it’s installed correctly and you can hit next and it will verify that everything is
right and if everything went well you’ll see that your certificate is ready so if
you scroll down you’ll see the two forms here just create on download so that you
have the backups all right now you go back to your cPanel and if you scroll
down and find SSL under security hit on that and in GoDaddy you have to find
here at the bottom installing managers to sell and hit on
the managers or sell sites and here you’ll be able to select your domain and
for the other fields we’ll go back to zero SSL calm and we’ll grab the first
key and copy paste it here please note that in this one there’s actually two
keys in one so if you scroll up a little and then there’s these tags that
separate the keys just grab it and paste it into the last field and then the
private key you can grab it from zero SSL and then you copy paste it in the
middle field it says private key on the top so copy paste it there I know I know
it’s getting like this you you give me no shit if you get lost just pause the
video and take your time now you’ll see that you have check marks next to all of
the forms so that means all is good just hit on install certificate and once it’s
done your SSL certificate is installed and you can test it by going to your
website and putting the HTTPS in front of it and you’ll see that you should
have this secure lock in front of your domain name
now at this point this only works if your user actually types in the HTTPS so
we want to redirect all the traffic from HTTP to HTTPS and that’s actually easily
achieved with a little bit of code so go back to your cpanel file manager and in
there if you go to your root so your public HTML and creating a file called
dot HT access in my case I actually already have it so I’m just going to
open it and edit and I have also some other code here I’m going to skip that
and after that code I’m going to place these three lines I’m going to put these
in the description so you can just copy paste them then save the file and now if
you refresh your page even if it doesn’t have HTTPS it should redirect you all
the time to the HTTPS so here’s an example as you can see it’s all good I
hope this video was useful hit the like if it helped you and here’s
what are know things about this tutorial so stop cheering me on

Hi. I am following everything, created the folder and sub folder, copied the files but getting error code 404. What am I missing out here..

  • ASE Media

TOTALLY AWESOME! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! – Btw, I am absolutely, totally, and utterly flat broke $ but when I have some money to send you I definitely will do that. This tutorial saved me SO much time and headache. I am on GoDaddy as well, so following you along was really easy. Again, thank you! – Jim Hughes, Boise, Idaho, USA

PROBLEM: When verifying file, I got 404 File not found error on a Plesk hosting.
CONTEXT: MIME Type for files without extension are not enabled and can't be configured through Plesk since and empty extension is an "Improper value"
Assuming that file exists and its name corresponds to file generated and requested by zerossl…

Add a web.config file in then ".well-known/acme-challenge" folder with the following content:
    <!– web.config starts –>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <mimeMap fileExtension="." mimeType="text/plain" />

    <!– web.config ends –>

Try again and now you're ready to go

If you already have installed SSL on your main domain on the cPanel and you also want to add SSL to your addon domain then instead of pasting files in public_html folder, go into the domain folder and create .well-known folder there and then procedd. I mean if your addon domain is then go to public_html/example and then create folder .well-known.

Huge thanks for this video, massive help and the only proper guide on doing this when you don't have full SSH access on a shared host!

  • MD Rob

I am using wordpress and cannot access cpanel, so used sftp but followed did create the directories and push the file, but page not found? Help Please!!

  • piano0011 Lee

Hello! Why do you need to include both the url with and without the www? I also can't find the public_html folder but got htdocs, can I copy it there?

  • NDZ Anthony

You could simply navigate to the REDIRECT icon under DOMAINS in the C-panel file manager and redirect your website to your new "https" site. This is preferable to trying htaccess.
Amazing vid btw, thanks a lot!

  • circuit story

dude when you click the key for verification you mentioned that the link should return us the key but for me it gives a 404 error as a new tab ..any help pls ??

quick question? I have been able to add https to my site, but as for the last step when I copy and paste it to my .htaccess and save changes the site does not work anymore and it says "too many redirects" on the web browser page. I remove the 3 line code provided from .htaccess and all work fine again, it just doesnt redirect http to https.

    Any thoughts???

EDIT*** Also on the HTTPS site,Ajax Page Loader does not work anymore……. Very strange.

Do you know how to add rich snippets in wordpress ??
like aggregator rating my search console is not crawling to my site

  • Jc Florendo

I have followed the tutorial and so far I think its working. But why my website is still not showing the green padlock like yours? Did I miss something? I just want the green padlock.

Thank you very much for your tutorial.

Need help in verification not getting download that small files showing protocol and after that showing invalid response from website

Excellent video and spot on….for most single websites. However, I have a second website, with the main website already covered. Everything seems to work, after testing the site on GoDaddy's testing page. Even the redirect worked, but the page still said 'NOT SECURED.' I Contacted GoDaddy and they said that I need a UCC certificate, which covers, not only the main website, but also the other add on domains and sub domains. Adding a certificate to the add on domains will not work. Which is frustrating. If that is the case, I wont recommend GoDaddy for hosting.

Hi there!! At the end of all the process I can see the padlock in the browser bar. The icon that appear me it's a (i) and say:"Your conncetion to thia site is not fully secure" Attackers might be able to see the images you're looking at on this site and trick you by modifying them.
Do you know why this happens? Thanks for advice.

  • Kevin Eperjesi

It worked sort off. If i use the http then it is secure, but if i just use the www. it says not secure

  • Sebastian Diaz

hey there, i've been trying to do this , like litterally following every single step, and it doest work, at the end when i try to check if it is ok, the link send me to my webpage and says that it doesn't exist… Help

  • Adam Spencer

This was aawesome! Really straightforward and easy to do as someone who knows web design but little about coding.

Can you explain why you choose to name the folders as 'well known' and 'acmechallenge'?

  • Javier Rincón

Installed everything okey but when I load the site I have no LOCK and it says "Your connection to this site is not fully secure". Any help please? (Thanks so much for the incredible video).

  • Karena Laubinger

Thank you for the awesome tutorial! I was successful in the process, with the https showing and so forth, but in Chrome am getting a little red icon in the far right of the website's URL field, with the message: "This page is trying to load scripts from unauthorized sources." It further states: "Manage warnings about unsafe sites. You'll see a warning if the content you're trying to see is dangerous or deceptive. These sites are often called "phishing" or "malware" sites." I also notice the Google ad banner is now missing from my site in both Chrome and Explorer. In Explorer, rather than the red icon, there is a message the the bottom of the screen stating: "Only secure content is displayed."

  • Jhonatan Mora Bermudez

Thank you very much, would you like to do another one about, how to renew SSL certificates for your sites automatically ? with that tools ?

  • Matthew Jaidev

Thank you for this help, I use this and your renewal video every 90 days! It would be wonderful to find an automated version : ) cheers!

  • Ruth Brand

Thank you so much, what an awesome tutorial!! I still have an issue tho 🙁 the site went from "not secure" to "!" It doesn't show the "lock" – when clicking on the ! it says: your connection to this site is not fully secure. attackers might be able to see the images you are looking at and trick you by modifying them. Would you be able to help me on this?

  • Lew D

How do you do this when you have 2 sites under one public html i get all the way to the part when I add the certificate in SSL when I do I get errors on both sites that say “your connection is not private “

  • Tamir Elazar

hi, thank you so much it was so helpful.
but I get Lil problem maybe someone can help me, chrome still sying that my site is not fully secure, how can I solve it ??

  • Darkzeta

Great video but I did everything you said and the cpanel said "installation successful" but when I tried to enter the https address on the browser I'm just redirected to the normal http site (I haven´t programed the redirection yet). I don't know what the problem is =/

  • bhagat sarma

This video helped me a lot for an install SSL certificate for my server that I rented from

    Please upload more videos.

  • Steve Emmanuel

    Hello, may I ask something..
I'm facing problem "404 Not Found" when I test the link in after uploading those 2 files. Any solution? or did I miss something? I believe I'm following your guide carefully. Thanks!

  • Antariksh Pratham

Hi bro I wanted your help. I wanted to use LetsEncrypt on my website however I'm facing some issues even after following all the steps. I'm using Infinityfree website hosting because GoDaddy is paid hosting and now my website doesn't contain too much content. When I uploaded the files to my cPanel, after sometime they were deleted. I believe it's because they don't want certificates to be installed but that's a really bizarre thing right?

Can you please help me? Which SSL provider should I try to use with Infinityfree

  • Abiodun Thorpe

I tried this on Bluehost, it broke the site before me adding the

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] to the existing below code in .htaccess file

    # php — BEGIN cPanel-generated handler, do not edit
    # Set the “ea-php73” package as the default “PHP” programming language.
    <IfModule mime_module>
    AddHandler application/x-httpd-ea-php73 .php .php7 .phtml
    # php — END cPanel-generated handler, do not edit

So I still didn't work on the site, what could be wrong?

  • Tarwada Android

the first file got verified but the second one shows (Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.) on firefox
