Illegal Immigration: It’s About Power

I recently watched a group of protestors,
most of them young, denouncing President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. They were waving Mexican flags and shouting:
“¡Si, se puede!”—”Yes, we can!” This is now the rallying cry of the open-borders
left, but it wasn’t always. In fact, I wondered if a single person at
the protest knew where it came from. The slogan first became famous fifty years
ago, thanks to Cesar Chavez. He was the founder of the United Farm Workers
union. When Chavez said “Si, se puede,” he meant
something very different: “Yes, we can… seal the borders.” Cesar Chavez hated illegal immigration. He was Hispanic, obviously, and definitely
on the left, but he fought to keep illegal Mexican immigrants out of this country. He understood that peasants from Latin America
will always work for less than Americans will. That’s why employers prefer them. Chavez knew that. “As long as we have a poor country bordering
California,” he once explained, “it’s going to be very difficult to win strikes.” In 1969, Chavez led a march down the center
of California to protest the hiring of illegal immigrant produce pickers. Marching alongside him was Democratic Senator
Walter Mondale, and the Rev. Ralph Abernathy, the longtime aide to Martin Luther King. Ten years later, Chavez dispatched armed union
members into the desert to assault Mexican nationals who were trying to sneak across
the border. Chavez’s men beat immigrants with chains
and whips made of barbed wire. Illegal aliens who dared to work as scabs
had their houses fire-bombed and their cars burned. Chavez wasn’t embarrassed about any of this. He bragged about it. No matter. Chavez remains a progressive hero. President Obama declared his birthday a commemorative federal holiday. It’s an official day off in half a dozen
states. There’s a college named after him, and dozens
of public schools. Cesar Chavez’s life is a reminder of how
much the left has changed—and how quickly. Until recently, most Democrats agreed with
Chavez. They opposed unchecked immigration because
they knew it hurt American workers. And they were right. One study by a Harvard economist examined
the effects of the mass migration of Cuban refugees to this country in 1980—the so-called
Mariel boatlift. He found that American workers in Miami with
a high school education saw their wages fall by more than thirty percent after the refugees
arrived. If you believe in supply and demand, this
is not surprising. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, Democratic
Governor Jerry Brown opposed letting Vietnamese refugees into California on the grounds that
the state already had enough poor people. As he put it at the time, “There is something
a little strange about saying, ‘Let’s bring in 500,000 more people’ when we can’t take
care of the one million Californians out of work.” First term Senator Joe Biden of Delaware agreed;
he introduced federal legislation to curb the arrival of the Vietnamese. Two decades later, leading Democrats were
still wary of mass immigration, especially illegal immigration. As Bill Clinton put it in the 1995 State of
the Union address, “…Americans… are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of
illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held
by citizens or legal immigrants. The public services they use impose burdens
on our taxpayers.” No prominent Democrat would say anything like
that today without being denounced as a racist. Clinton got a standing ovation. As late as 2006, there were still liberals
who cared about the economic effects of immigration, legal or illegal. “Immigration reduces the wages of domestic
workers who compete with immigrants,” explained economist Paul Krugman in the New York Times. “…We’ll need to reduce the inflow of
low-skilled immigrants. Mainly, that means better controls on illegal
immigration.” That same year, Senator Hillary Clinton voted
for a fence on the Mexican border. So did Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer and
23 other Senate Democrats. Not anymore. Twenty years after Bill Clinton told Americans
they had the right to be upset about illegal immigration, his wife scolded the country
for enforcing border controls. So, what changed? Not the economics of it. The law of supply and demand remained in effect. It’s not a coincidence that as illegal immigration
surged, wages for American workers stagnated. What changed is that Democrats stopped caring
about those workers. About the middle class, really. Why? Here’s the answer, in four simple facts. One: According to a recent study from Yale,
there are at least 22 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Two: Democrats plan to give all of them citizenship. Read the Democrats’ 2016 party platform. Three: Studies show the overwhelming majority
of first-time immigrant voters vote Democrat. Four: The biggest landslide in American presidential
history was only 17 million votes. The payoff for Democrats: permanent electoral
majority for the foreseeable future. In a word: power. That’s the point, no matter what they tell
you; American workers be damned. I’m Tucker Carlson.

    No its about The jews!

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Nobelprize winner and himself victim of the Bolshevikparty in Gulag.

“You must understand, the leading Bolsheviks who took over Russia were not Russians. They hated Russians. They hated Christians. Driven by ethnic hatred, they tortured and slaughtered millions of Russians without a shred of human remorse. It cannot be overstated. Bolshevism committed the greatest human slaughter of all time. The fact that most of the world is ignorant and uncaring about this enormous crime is proof that the global media in the hands of the perpetrators.”

“We cannot state that all Jews are Bolsheviks. But without Jews, there would never have been Bolshevism. For a Jew, nothing is more insulting than the truth. The blood maddened Jewish terrorists have murdered sixty-six million in Russia from 1918 to 1957.”
    – Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Putins statement: 80-85% of the Bolshevik-party were jews. (I would say they were over 90%)
Quote from the jew Leon Trotsky and the founder of the red army.

Leon Trotsky intentionally drove Europeans to "cannibalism"
In 1921 messengers representing starving peasants asked Trotsky för help he said this:
"You are starving? This is not famine yet, when your women eat their children then you may come and say we are starving."
My statements about The jews intentions:
For example Almost all media, banking, and influencial bransches of the world is owned by jews. Is that not very risky knowing from the Talmud that the jews secretly hate: 1. Christians 2. Whites 3. All non-jews. 4. They want a world of their own.

All my statements can you find in the jewish Holy book the Talmud.

    Have a good day!

Seems like we are facing the same problems in the EU as you in the US. Free speech is no longer existing as far as you criticize the flood of at least 2 million "refugees" only in a small country like Germany. Its like critics aren't there. It doesnt show up in the media anymore and every politician who fights against illegal and unregulated immigration is immediately compared to a Nazi, especially over here in Germany. Stupid people have taken over…

  • Egg Man

Nothing like a extremely biased news host of a conservative news network to tell me that illegal immigration is just a power move by the other side and other side bad.

  • Egg Man

When the Democrats dont support the wall because of what it represents to trump's ego, its ineffectiveness, and its cost. They've always supported reinforcing the border around entry points where illegal immigration is most common. Why build a concrete wall in the middle of the desert that's is near impossible to man and maintain and also stop very little illegal immigrants?

  • Hugh Jones

"Democrats stopped caring about those workers – about the middle class really". It's funny how Americans call working class "middle class".

  • Michaelangelo Right

Many US CITIZENS have left the Inner-cities due to high crime, shit holes Public Schools aka United Federation of TEACHER'S Unions, over paid Professors, Schools Administration for States, Cities, County's government's control by DNC politicians and It's Socialist Cult members

  • John Martin

Wow a politician making a decision to help people solely based on preserving or gaining power! I never heard that one before! This is really quite a shocking discovery! It’s never been heard of before in the history of mankind! Politicians are supposed to selfless servants of the people, not human beings with other personal ambitions and flaws! Especially since the American people have never ever elected elected any flawed politicians before! This is quite the big deal

  • Timothy Ryan

When Pres. Clinton made that address, did the Republicans applaud or did they try to stop him.? It seems like Democrats and Republicans just change sides every few years

  • Dimas

This is a lie. Cesar Chavez did not hate illegals. He fought for the rights of ag workers legal or not. He even worked with illegal Phillipinos to unite the workers. If you accept the lie, this seems real. But it is not. Truth and Fact are being manipulated. Dont follow this.

  • John Smith

Not to mention there are articles/studies showing the Dems ALREADY benefit with increased electoral votes and more Congressional Representatives FROM ILLEGALS since they are counted in the census.
Can find sources if you search.

  • Devin Norwood

THANK YOU – PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD – vs the non-stop lies of most mass-media. Take back our nation or lose it forever!

  • mrcherokee1973

Hilarious hypocrisy from a guy who's worried specifically about racial demographic changes! Not all wrong, but mass amounts of hypocrisy! LMAO!

  • Jason Newstead

We should also be upset with all of the franchises, corporations, television stations and newspapers that use the Spanish language in their advertisements, programs and articles. They are deliberately catering to the largely undocumented (illegal) hispanic population in my state and in others. These folks would find living in the USA far less appealing if they either had to learn English in order to conduct business and be a part of the residing communities instead of being able to carve out their own separate mini-nations.

  • Preston Parrish

Ehh, seems like this history is a bit more complex than Tucker Carlson makes it seem. Looks like attitudes shifted over time; even Chavez apparently conceded that the fault of exploitation lies not with the illegal immigrants, but with those who profit off of them.

  • Logical spartan

This is the only area that PragerU has it right. Except….hmmm PragerU did not mention the real culprits…. THE EMPLOYERS! Now why would that be? O good point employers are usually republicans. So who is really the one resisting enforcement of the borders?

  • Chuck Norris

HA!! Freakin immigration lawyer ads for these illegals popping up before this video. You Tube is disgusting, and obviously supports open-borders to ensure that their radical, socialist, Demo-crap darlings can seize power, and continue to chip away at the U.S. Constitution and our freedoms. Keep it up You-Tube…this won't end well for you and all your socialism-loving pals, i.e. Fakebook…etc. We know who the real enemies of the people are. We see through your lies and your garbage.

  • Faye Ku

He is absolutely right that this is about power. People keep trying to use a line drawn in the sand to make some other people less human than the people on the other side. The cheapest and fastest way of fixing all these problems is to just make them citizens. The only way to no longer have a poorer country south of us, is to equalize our power structure and open migration between the two. Logic.

  • Admirał Patryk

Americans can use an example of today's Europe: the ,,Western Block" countries, that were (and still are) open for immigrants are now economically destroyed (e.c. France, and Spain), but the ,,Eastern block" countries, sceptical about immigrants from Middle East, are now drastically rising up (e.c. Poland (high-developed country since 2018) and Romania (the country with the one of the ,,fastest booming" economy and very, very low taxes)).
It's also worth saying, that the immigrants not always come with good intentions: it was proven, that some of refugees from Syria are apart of Al-Kaida and the effects are clear: there are a lot of manifestation, sometimes even with violence in the cities of Western Europe.
Look at this point: before 2014 the Paris was for Poles the symbol of luxury and comfort. Now it's a symbol of how bad the ,,Multi kulti" ends.

I like these videos better than the highly subversive ones shilling for Israel.

Also, it isn't just ILLEGAL immigration that is the problem…

  • Karen Mann

    Thank you Prague U.
I'm still at a loss as to how anyone with an IQ above 35 can still entertain being a Democrat, Leftist, Socialist, or Luciferian. There is more power in Heaven than can ever be in Hell. Praying to the "Holy Mother" to protect those of you doing what WE that are too weak cannot do.

  • Vincente Carrizales

They are taking small and confined incidents and aligning it as if it were the entire base of the organization. When UFW went on strike for better working conditions (like breaks in the shade and water on sites) the farmers felt they asked too much and would walk into Mexico and bring back illegals. When Chavez tried to get them to join the strike, they were unintrested. The UFWs met, angry (with the farmers) and when Chavez didn't have a solution some incidents like this happened, from members of his group. Later, Chavez went on hunger strike to get the attention of farmers, his members and illegals.

  • Vincente Carrizales

This what happens when White man writes history. Why blame low wages imm illegal immigration, when the ceo of big corps make 350 times more than the average worker. That's right, if you make $10 there's someone making 3,500 an hour. Distribution of wealth, outsourcing and other major components are hurting Americans on a greater scale.

  • NongBrink

During the Obama era, they tried to build the wall once and the budget back then was much more than Trump asked. And of course, Miss Nancy was one of the left that voted for the wall back then as well.

    Shame on the left .

  • James Kenneth

This is the type of propaganda the democrats don’t want illegal migrants to know.. we Americans are getting dumber and dumber voting for the democrats to run our country to the ground in favor of staying in power..

  • Frostie-Flake

The reality is it’s not just about power! It’s about organized crime, too! IT’S ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING & SORDID DEALS MADE W/CARTELS & CROOKED NGOs! It’s inconceivable the DNC, as coordinated as they are in mostly every talking point, aren’t in a tacit relationship via multiple crooked NGOs w/Drug Cartels human trackers and Chinese Communist Party at work enabling this in Mexico supplying fentanyl.

  • NWO 4LiFE

It's the same with sending billions in aid to feed and home foreigners when we have homeless people and people and children living in abject poverty in our own country!! Cut all foreign aid and feed our own people!! Give our own people jobs! Help us first!

  • kitemanmusic

Very informative. About turn by the Demoncraps! Just heard that Tucker is being stifled by Fox News (Aug 2019). Any more info?

  • ice water

During the Nixon era the pickers union got the government to bar youth from crop picking in the summertime. I lost my job.

  • Lyrie carried by lebron Lirving

Wow what a fake video, people immigrate illegally because it takes many years to get a citizenship

  • Cole Johnson

Never mind a socialist who disagreed with the destructive policies which the United States Government perpetrated in Latin America to prevent democratically elected politicians from leading their countries

  • Vegas Sims

Very true statement, and you don't need a liberal degree from Harvard to understand this. As a one time Democrat myself, who even bought into the campaign lies of Obama in 2008 and voted for him, I have seen for myself and huge leap toward nonsense by this same party. Afraid of losing the white house and the senate for the foreseeable future, they are doing anything to keep relevant, even if it's illegal. This is why I "walked away" and became an Independent Party voter.

  • An untrue definition

The older those immigrants get, the more likely they will vote Republican. Lowering the Democrats voter count, encouraging Democrats to make more citizens. Its an endless loop

  • The Art of War Applied

I laughed when he said "if you believe in supply and demand." Funny that econ1101 is always a question for debate.

  • TriMotion Media

I have no idea what Cesar Chavez did, but I searched it up and this is the first thing it says about Cesar on Cesar Chavez Foundation's Website About Him page, "A true American hero, Cesar Chavez was a civil rights, Latino and farm labor leader; a genuinely religious and spiritual figure; a community organizer and social entrepreneur; a champion of militant nonviolent social change; and a crusader for the environment and consumer rights."

Why does it say NON VIOLENT, when this video says he was very violent?

  • James Potts

I consider myself a mild leftist, on some issues especially, that's not what I'm concerned about here. What troubles me the most is American job loss because of illegal immigration. How can one argue the economics of the math involved. You can't do it unless a person wants to "knowingly" bypass a Truth, which is done by years of study and research preformed by some of the greatest thinkers of history. Stop being "purposefully-blind" to this issue for the sake of a liberalism agenda that's outdated, overly sympathetic for others and biasedl against American citizens!!

  • BonzoDog67 Lizardking

This is true, but it's only half the story. Farm lobbies liked that cheap labor and had representatives on both sides of the isle for Big Agra.
The late Jack Kemp (R) thought illegals were just dandy and said the politically smart thing to do was to give them a free education.
Another factor was the bipartisan screwing that was Globalism. NAFTA and other agreements let corporations race to a global bottom for the cheapest labor. Workers be damned.

  • Paweł Skotnica

A genocidal maniac still has his birthday celebrated and statue standing in Ukraine, the name is Stepan Bandera. Food for thought.

  • Tom Williams

I never was stupid enough to vote Democrat. I figured out a long time ago that that party is totally full of shit and now appear to be anti-American.

  • David

Chavez was ruthless and dosnt hold up to the hero standard…. now lets look at Washington, Jackson, and Reagan…..oppp they suck too

  • Anthony Garcia

Tucker is spot on the corporate elites just want cheap labor and Democrats wants lobbyist money and future voters. MAGA 2020!

  • postmodern liberalist

Truth revealing: self entitled liberalists are really close minded. They r sending western civilization to the hell! I’m here for western values rather than multicultural society and Political correctness!

  • Chezare Da Silva

Not here to praise illegal immigration, as I agree with most of what was said in the video. However, wages have been stagnant for more than 30 years, which may be due to a lot more things other than immigration. (Automation, Overseas manufacturing, Outsourcing, Temporary jobs).

  • Águila701

"Peasants from Latin America will always work for less, that's why employers prefer them". So basically PragerU is a commie organization getting in the way of free market?

  • Alex P

It is impossible to allow open borders along with a never-ending, socialistic welfare state. Eventually, the poor of the world would make their way to pick that nation clean like locusts until nothing remains. An illegal alien is entitled to three things: To be detained humanely, To be provided any essential medical care, Safe transportation home.

  • Jesse Ash

Si Se Peude…….translation: obloish illegals flooding in and bogging down our system and overwhelming communities. A number like 22 million is an invading force of people that obviously do not care about our laws or our way of life. They made that clear by sneaking in and manipulating our system. When will enough be enough?

  • Tony Lopez

How little the average American knows about Cesar Chavez. He was anti-illegal immigrants. If he was alive he would be supporting Donald J Trump.
