Drupal 6 – Uploading Files

To upload a file to a page on your website, you need to link text to the file. So i’m going to go to content management ->create content and web page, just so we can add a test page to view how to do this. I’m going to add some content in the body and then this is what I want to link to my file, so i’m going to highlight that. Click the link button in the content editor, click browse server in the link dialog box and if you want to upload your own you can click the upload button, browse and browse to a file on your computer, hit open and then upload. But I’m just going to use one that’s already been uploaded, so I’ll click on this first PDF here and click insert file. You can notice that the URL field is not blank anymore, that’s the URL to my file. I’ll click ok. And you can see that my text is blue now instead of black and that there is an underline when i hover over it. So you can tell that it’s linked. So I’m going to hit save and you can see that when i click on my text it links me to the file that I linked it to. If I want to take away that link to a file, I’ll edit the page again, highlight the text and click the unlink button. You can see that my text is black again, that means there’s no hyperlink.
