Dallas Synagogue Helps Church By Hosting Sunday Morning Services


THE JEWISH HOLIDAY OF PASSOVER BEGINS AT SUNDOWN. THAT IS OFFICIALLY BEFORE 8 PM AND PASSOVER WILL CONTINUE UNTIL SATURDAY EVENING. ON THIS CELEBRATION, WE TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT A COLLABORATION THAT DEFINES SIMPLY BEING GOOD TO ONE ANOTHER NO MATTER WHAT YOU BELIEVE IT. JACK FINK SHOWS US HOW A SYNAGOGUE IS MAKING A CHURCH FEEL RIGHT AT HOME. IT MAY BE THE MOST UNLIKELY PLACE FOR A PALM SUNDAY SERVICE BUT THE TEMPLE SHALOM IS PLAYING HOST TO THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ON THIS AND EVERY SUNDAY MORNING. WE ARE THE GUEST AND THEY HAVE BEEN AN INCREDIBLE HOST AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THEY MAKE CLEAR TO US OUT OF THE GATE WAS THAT THEY DESIRE US NOT TO FEEL LIKE A GUEST BUT A PART OF THE COMMUNITY. IN ANOTHER PART OF THE SYNAGOGUE, JEWISH CHILDREN ARE PREPARING FOR PASSOVER. THE SENIOR RABBI SAID THEY DID NOT HESITATE TO EXTEND A HAND TO A YOUNG CHURCH IN NEED OF A PLACE TO WORSHIP. NOT ONLY SOMETHING THAT IS IN OUR MISSION AND OUR TRADITION BUT SOMETHING THAT WE SHARE AND GOD CALLS US TO DO EVERY DAY. TEMPLE SHALOM HAS COME FULL CIRCLE. THE CONGREGATION WAS STARTING OUT 50 YEARS AGO AND THEY WERE OFFERED SPACE AT A DALLAS CHURCH. NOW THE SYNAGOGUE IS RETURNING THE FAVOR. THE METHODIST CHURCH IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO START THEY WERE GRACIOUS AND HOSPITABLE IN EVERY WAY. THE FOUNDING MEMBERS REMEMBER THAT. EVERY MEMBER OF THE CONGREGATION REALLY FEELS OVERWHELMING THANKS AND GRATITUDE. A SYMBOL OF PEACE IN THIS OFTEN TROUBLED WORLD.
