This program is dedicated to teaching you how to put the Word of God to work so that it will make a positive difference in the everyday circumstances of your life. (Music) CHARLES CAPPS>>The rapture of the church takes place before the tribulation. And I know that there’s a lot people that will fight you for the right to tribulate. You know I’ve never understood that. I’ve never understood that. Why anybody would want to tribulate but it’s because they have misunderstood the Scriptures. Now we’ve dealt with Matthew 24. Now let’s go back over to Thessalonians, 2nd Thessalonians where the Apostle Paul gives us two things that must happen before the Second Advent. And when the Apostle Paul gives you this insight and says these things will happen, you can mark it down because the Apostle Paul was given this revelation by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. He said, “What I teach I didn’t learn it of man neither was I taught it but by revelation Jesus Christ. We’re already dealt in the other session with 1st Thessalonians. Now let’s come over to 2nd Thessalonians and let me quality some of the things I’m about to say because it’ll help you understand it better. Paul wrote this 2nd Epistle to the church as Thessalonica to try to straighten out some things. Evidently someone had written a letter and forged Paul’s name to it and said something to the effect, that I Paul have changed my mind and the day of Christ is at hand. In other words, the rapture has already taken place or not going to be one and the Second Advent is upon us. And Paul is writing this to the Thessalonians to try to straighten this out. Now notice what he does in the first chapter he deals first with the Second Advent. Let’s pick up on it in verse 6. “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his might angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” Now you’ll recognize immediately he’s referring to the Second Advent. There’s no fire, none of this happens at the rapture of the church. This is the Second Advent. The reason Paul deals with the Second Advent first is because of what he’s trying to straighten out here. Now when you pick up in Chapter 2. It begins to come together. “Now we beseech you, brethren,” now he’s talking to the church again. “We beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him. Now I believe that when he says the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ because he’s mentioned the Second Advent first, I believe he’s talking about his coming physically to the earth. So he’s talking about two things. The coming of Jesus physically to the earth which he mentions first in Chapter 1, then our gathering together unto him. That phrase our gathering together unto him can only be one event and one event only and that is the rapture of the church. “That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Now here he mentions that letter. Now some of the commentaries will fill you in on that. That evidently somebody forged Paul’s name to a letter to try to change the doctrine that Paul was teaching. He’s saying I didn’t write the letter. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,” Now listen to what he said, “That day shall not come.” What day? The day of the Lord. The day of Christ and the day of the Lord is the same event and that’s the Second Advent not the rapture of the Church. It’s the Second Advent. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” Now the Greek word translated falling away here is the Greek word Apostacia. And it does not literally mean falling away. It means a departure. Now if you have an Amplified version it says, it has a foot there, and it says a possible rendering with a Greek word Apostacia is departure of the church. That’s exactly what it means. It’s a more correct rendering of it. Now I had a Greek scholar tell me. She said, “I disagree with the Amplified version that says a possible rendering.” It’s not a possible rendering. She said, “It is the rendering of the original Greek.” It means departure, not falling away. It is almost the same word. It is so close to the meaning, it’s so close to the same word as translated. Enoch didn’t fall way, he was translated. See it means to defect. Now when you really do a study on it. And I did quite extensive study on it. You find out what the word means is that one group is separated from another group, so that this group that’s separated from that group don’t experience what that group experienced. Talking about the tribulation period. Now here he says there’s two things must happen. There must be a departure first and the man of sin be revealed. In other words the Anti-Christ, “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Verse 6 says, “Now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.” How do you know “what withholdeth?” Because he just got through telling us. There’s two things must happen. First the departure of the church or one group separated from another group. And then the man of sin be revealed. Now you know what withholdeth. What withholdeth? We withholdeth. We hold back the powers of the Anti-Christ and he cannot take over or try to take over this planet until the church is taken out of here. Because we rule the darkness of this world by reflecting the light of Jesus Christ. Now notice what he goes on to say. Now if you just discount that and say, Well I don’t know whether I believe that exactly like you do or not. Well come on over now and verse 7. He says, “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let,” Now the word letteth here is an Old English word that was translated by the King James. It literally means withhold not let. See, it the opposite mean of what you would think. It’s added by the translator, part of it is. But the word letteth is in there. It means with witholdeth or restrained. “He who restrains,” now notice, he calls whatever restrains a he. What could that refer to? The body of Christ. Jesus is the head of the church. We’re the body. Jesus is always referred to by the Apostle Paul as he. In other words, a man, the body of Christ. He refers t/ the body of Christ as a man. See if Jesus is a man then His body must be the body of a man. And if it’s not your going to have a freak on your hands, especially in our day. Now we know there no mail or female in Christ. Now here the way to understand this. We’re all one. We are baptized into the body of Christ. We are one with Him now. We’re considered the body. So the he that it refers to, now let’s read it again. “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, (or holds back) until he be taken out of the way.” Until the church is taken out the Anti-Christ cannot be revealed. Now isn’t that what he said, back over here, when you rightly divide the word of truth. He said it three times. In a little different way. Now let’s read it again. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (the Second Advent) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed.” So the departure of the church comes first, then the Anti-Christ is revealed. And he will not be revealed or known on the earth as the Anti-Christ until the church is gone. Now there’s all kinds of people trying to figure out who the Anti-Christ was. It was Mussolini, then it was Hitler, then it was Ronald Reagan, and you know, I get so amused at the people trying to figure out who the Anti-Christ is. I don’t care who he is, I just don’t want to be here when he’s in power. Verse 6 says, “Now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.” See there’s a time for him to be revealed. He can’t be revealed until it’s time. Now we know what witholdeth. How do we know? He told us in verse 3, that there must be a departure first, a catching away. Then he says again in verse 7. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, (restrains, or holds back will do so) until he be taken out of the way.” Now there’s some that say Brother Capps that means the Holy Ghost be taken out and we’re going to stay here. No now wait a minute. Let me show you something. Because, now I can understand Why people would think that way because there is some validity to the question. Because the Holy Spirit is the restrainer. But he cannot restrain unless He has a body to work through. See we have the body. That gives us authority on this planet. You can’t send the Holy Ghost to Africa and preach the gospel. Don’t you know he knows how to preach the gospel? But He doesn’t have a body. He has to have a physical body to work through. We’re called the body of Christ. So the Holy Spirit restrains the Anti-Christ through the body of Christ because we reflect the light of Jesus Christ to a sin darkened world to where the Anti-Christ cannot take over. Just think what it would be if all the Christians are suddenly taken out of this planet. The restraint that we have in Congress and the Christian Congressman and the Senate and in places of authority. If suddenly all the Christians were removed. It’d be hell on earth. And that’s what you’re going to see when this thing turns out that way. It’s going to be bad on this planet. You don’t want to be here. You don’t even want your worst enemy to be here during the tribulation period. “The mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (or who restrains, will restrain) until he be taken out of the way. Then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.” In other words, there’s signs and lying wonders, not real miracles. The Anti-Christ is operating in the occult and of the highest order. He’ll be able to seemingly call down fire from heaven. People say well I’m going to get saved during the tribulation period. The deception that will be unleashed on this planet when the church leaves will be unbelievable. There will be people saved. But won’t be as easy as it is now. I wouldn’t plan on waiting ’til then to get saved. I’m telling you. “For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” So it’s not a good place to be during that time. Now go with me over to the Book of Revelation. I want to point out again a scripture here in the Book of Revelation that will reveal that the coming as a thief refers to the Second Advent not the rapture of the Church. Revelation Chapter 16, now start verse 13, And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty, great day of God Almighty,” In other words, the day of the Lord. “Behold, I come as a thief.” When? Second Advent. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.” Now that places him coming as a thief at the Battle of Armageddon, not to catch away the church, Church called away seven years before. Beyond a shadow of doubt, this lays it out the way the Apostle Paul taught it. Now back up there to the 3rd Chapter of Revelation, this will give you insight again into how to rightly divide the word of truth. In the first three chapters, John the revelator is giving us things about the church. He mentions the church, I believe it’s 19 times or 13 times in the first three chapters, talks about the church. The seven churches of Asia. After chapter 3, the church is never mentioned again in the whole book of revelation until you get to the last chapter. And it just simply says, “These things were written to the church.” Now the people that say we’re going through the tribulation, the reason they believe we’re going through the tribulation, we’re going to do great signs and wonders and we’re going to do wonderful exploits for the Lord during that period of time. If that is true, there should be something in the Book of Revelation that reveals that. The church is never mentioned after chapter 3 until you get to the last chapter. And it just simply said, “These things were written to the church.” If we were going to be here during the tribulation there ought to be something in this book that it says we did. I mean if it didn’t say anything but the church just sat down and did nothing. But it never mentions the church again. Now isn’t that obvious that if the church is here on earth during that seven year period there’s going to be something said about what they did? There’s nothing said about it. Now I’ll show you why. Look here in the third chapter. “The church in Philadelphia, in verse 7, “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;” Now it’s saying that God’s going to shut something, He’s going to open something. No man can shut it. No man can open it whatever he shuts. “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door:” Now He’s telling you what he going to open and what He’s going to shut. “I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” I believe the Philadelphia church which is the sixth church mentioned is the profile of the true church. “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” Now come down to verse 10, “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” Now if you’re on this earth during that period of time, the tribulation is coming on you. He calls it, “keep you from the hour of temptation,” or test trial beyond what has ever been upon this planet or ever shall be. There’s no doubt He’s referring to the tribulation period. “Because you’ve kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation.” Now to chapter 4, “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven:” This is the door he’s referring to. Now he’s talked about the church for three whole chapters and now it says, “Behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.” Hereafter what? What’s he talking about for three whole chapters, the church age. I’ll show you what will be after the church age. Now the first voice he heard was as the voice of a trumpet talking to him. Now remember 1st Thessalonians said chapter 4, “The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel” There’s a voice blended with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” The voice of the archangel blended with the trump of God, it sounds like a trumpet talking. And here’s the voice of a trumpet talking to him and said, “Come up hither.” It’s the rapture of the church beyond the shadow of doubt. “And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” Now he finds himself in heaven immediately after he here’s this voice sounds like a trumpet saying, “Come up hither.” That’s the door that’s open. That’s the door He said, “I’ll open and no man will shut.” I care how much the preach against the rapture, I’m still going. If you rightly divide the word of truth this is the only doctrine that the Bible teaches. I have not been able to find one single scripture in this Bible that even indicates that the church, the true church will go through one day of the tribulation period. It’s just simply not there. You have to take scriptures out of context and misunderstand them or be misled. It takes an overall study of the word of God to put it together. Now what happens here, look at verse 6, “And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:” Now when it names a sea in the scriptures and does not name the sea, it always refers to people, a mass of people. So here’s a mass of people like unto crystal sea. Are you ready for this? The only thing, you know what Paul said, “That He’ll present to Himself a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.” Crystal is the only substance you cannot hide a flaw in. If it’s a flaw in it you can see it. And this is a crystal sea, a mass of people without a flaw. It’s the church in heaven. Now in the 5th Chapter They’re trying to find someone in heaven that’s worthy to open the book. And no man was found there that was worthy to open the Book. That proves men are there. But now finally the Lamb comes and takes the book to open the seal. And notice in verse 9, “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Now who is this singing this song in heaven around the throne of God. It’s the church, raptured. In the first part of chapter 4, and notice the Anti-Christ has not yet been revealed, exactly like the Apostle Paul said it would take place. “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;” That’s a hundred billion angels around the throne of God. Now are they in heaven? The scripture says, They are ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who are heirs of salvation.” If we were on earth they’d be on earth. But we’re in heaven and they’re in heaven. They just transported the church to heaven. Now they go back and get another load at mid-tribulation right after mid-tribulation. Now that’s where people miss it. They get over there and find out that at mid-tribulation in chapter 7, look at it. Well let’s don’t look at it yet, let’s finish this up. But in chapter 7 it tells you there’s another multitude shows up in heaven. How did they get there. They were raptured after mid-tribulation. That’s why some people teach that we’re going through half the tribulation. No. They’ve misunderstood the word. Now come down here to Chapter 6, “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, (when the first seal is open) and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.” Here’s the Anti-Christ revealed when the first seal is open and the church is already in heaven singing the song of the redeemed, exactly like the Apostle Paul said it would happen. And John the revelator gives the same exact message, confirmation of what the Apostle Paul said. This is what he saw and that’s exactly the way it’s going to happen, regardless of what people say. Now there’s people that try to tell you oh that’s Jesus coming. No, he has a bow and no arrows. He rules by deception. They had to give him a crown. He didn’t have a crown. You read in Revelation 19 when Jesus shows up he has many crowns on his head. This fellow doesn’t have a crown. It’s the Anti-Christ. Two things must happen, the catching away of the church and the man of sin be revealed before the Second Advent. And this is exactly what the scripture bares out. Well I’ll put my vote in for rapture rather then tribulation. Because when you rightly divide the word, there’s not but one doctrine concerning the rapture and the tribulation. That is rapture before the tribulation and tribulation after the rapture seven years later at the Second Advent when Jesus appears we will come back with him to earth to live and set up the Kingdom of God here. Hallelujah. Blessed be God. I appreciate you joining us for the broadcast. Now we’re offering this week.
