How far can we go? How far can we go? It’s part of the UF way. That if you dream big enough and believe in
your dream, Anything is possible. Anything is possible. Anything is possible. Anything is possible. It’s part of who they are. University of Florida researchers who realize
that technology has the power to unite. That technology allows them to visualize projects
and simulate outcomes in real time, and connects them to the information and expertise they
need. Technology amplifies their senses and transforms
the way they work. For them to complete their mission, to harness
their ambition, means connecting them to enterprise computers that handle the world’s most complex
computations, and the University of Florida has risen to that challenge. Buried beneath the streets of this bustling
campus is a world-class fiberglass infrastructure that connects the main campus to the UF Data
Center. Researchers, including those from the humanities
and arts, are able to access petabytes of secure data storage that are housed for all
16 colleges. Scientific and engineering challenges are
being calculated by the HiPerGator 2.0, which has been increased from 21,000 to a staggering
51,000 processing cores. One of the fastest in the world. I’m Aaron Beveridge of MassMine, and we use
HiPerGator to collect and process social network data. I’m Coray Colina, and I’m designing new materials
for the health care industry. My name is Damon Woodard. I direct a biometics and machine learning
lab. I use HiPerGator to crunch large biometric
data sets for identification purposes. My name is Lauren McIntyre, and my research
can help find genes, unravel mysteries, and tell us what it means. I’m Dean Julie Johnson, and I’m using HiPerGator
to move from a one-size-fits-all approach to selection of drug therapy to a personalized
approach I’m Melanie Correll, and I use crop simulation
models to link genetic information of crops with the environment to help predict how different
crops will grow as climate changes. I’m Forrest Masters, and I’m making coastal
communities more resilient to extreme wind events. UF technology is allowing me to complete my
mission, to solve a challenge with large data sets, to find all the pieces of the puzzle. UF’s technology is allowing me to be more
efficient in my research, to solve an engineering challenge, to improve access, to take us places
