1-Click WordPress Staging with RAIDBOXES – Managed WordPress Hosting

Welcome back to the third part of our video demonstration here at WordCamp Nederland. My name is Torben. I am founder and CMO of RAIDBOXES. In this video I will show you our brand new staging feature. Right now staging is still in beta. That is why you are very welcome to test it and provide us with feedback! If you hit the staging switch we create the development environment. That will take a moment, depending on how big your project is. Every staging website runs on the exact same hardware as your live environment. So they basically share CPU, RAM, and SSD. And they run with the same technical specifications, i.e. PHP, HTTPS, MySQL etc. In your staging environment you got a status switch on the upper left. As you can see over here a staged website is always password protected. Of course that is only true for your staging environment, not for your live website. The watermark in the bottom right corner shows, that you are now working in a staging environment. If you want to start your tests, just log in to your WordPress Dashboard and start testing. For demonstration purposes just let me change the theme of this test site real quick. Now I can copy these changes to the live website. One click and you see: the new theme is live now. If you want, you can also choose to copy only parts of your staging website to your live environment. You can choose to copy just your plugins, the theme, the upload folder or certain tables of your database. That’s it. When you are done testing and copied all the changes to your live environment you can switch off staging. The staging environment will be deleted but your website will not be affected by that at all. As you can see the new theme is live now. If you face any problems, you can just restore a backup of your website, which we strongly advise you to create before you start using staging. Thanks a lot for your time. I hope I was able to give a good overview of how we at RAIDBOXES approach WordPress Hosting. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask anyone wearing a RAIDOXES shirt! Feel free to reach out to me via email to [email protected] or get in touch via twitter.
